Title: Social Care Data Security and Protection Toolkit news

Data Security and Protection Toolkit Entry level will continue to be available for 20/21

As part of our continued effort to make DSPT more accessible across all Health and Care sectors, Entry level was developed for social care and small organisations as it was understood that for many completing the toolkit will be a new process. Entry level shows that critical legal requirements are being met; but some expected mandatory requirements have not been met and Entry level has been designed to be a stepping stone to achieving at the Standards Met level. Entry level will be time limited, but it will continue for at least the 20/21 financial year. A key benefit of obtaining Entry level is that it allows you to begin using NHSmail.

Domiciliary Care HQs can now publish Entry level Data Security and Protection Toolkit for their sites.

We have launched new functionality on the Data Security and Protection Toolkit to allow Domiciliary Care Headquarters to publish an Entry level for its sites.

You can now publish multiple entry level Data Security and Protection Toolkit assessments

Once you have published your entry level assessment you move from the initial entry level layout into the Standards met layout, but you can still publish another entry level even with the Standards met layout. We encourage everyone to move onto Standards met as this can open access to secure national digital solutions, e.g. Summary Care Records, GP records and potentially local digital information sharing solutions. However, it is recognised that moving from Entry level to Standards met is challenging and may be not be achieved in one go. Publishing multiple Entry Level Data Security and Protection Toolkits allows you to demonstrate that you are making progress towards Standards met.

Guidance available from Digital Social Care to support completion of Data Security and Protection Toolkit

The guidance shows what ODS codes are and how to find yours and what to do if your organisation has more than one site. It is particularly useful for large multisite providers, domiciliary care organisations and providers offering multiple services.
